dc.description.abstract | Pedestrian-only streets prioritize people and are typically most appropriate in corridors with commercial activity on both edges of the street. They are strategically selected streets in which pedestrian volume is high and vehicular traffic is restricted. These streets have to satisfy people’s basic necessities. Carfree streets are a solution for primordial problems that big cities develop such as pollution, road accident that includes pedestrians, people’s comfort and wellbeing. Chisinau has a lack of pedestrian streets, but it has great potential starting from the historical center due to the architecture of the buildings. A project that would diminish transport problems and increase quality of life in the city would be a pedestrian street network that would connect all the districts, it would promote alternative transport and walking. | en_US |
