Abstract:
At the end of XX century, essential changes took place in the fruit growing of the Republic of Moldova, both concerning the cultivated surface and the total production of fruits. Therefore, the area of the fruit plantations during the study period remained practically unchanged and registered the figure of 137.9 thousand ha. At the same time, the global fruit production rose from 255.4 thousand tons to 666.4 thousand tons in 2017, or up 160.9%. The structure of the fruit plantations by age group registered a slight change, by rejuvenating the existing plantations in 2000 by 10%. The authors intended to highlight the situation in fruit cultivation sector of the Republic of Moldova and the measures for increasing the productivity of plantations by applying concrete interventions from the state.
