dc.description.abstract | We wish to evoke the destinies of young people who served their country in time of peace or war in the Romanian Navy beginning with the year 1920. The first figure we shall ponder on is Commander Nicolae Mujicicov (16 July 1920-29 September 2013) who was born in Chisinau in a mixed family (a Russian father and a Romanian mother). In 1939, when Europe went to war, he chooses the career of naval officer being irremediably attracted by the sea, During the war, he fought at sea, participating in over 80 combat missions aboard HMS Ferdinand. In 1947 he was removed from office because of his anti-Soviet position. He futher follows another career – a sports teacher. He returns to his first love – the Navy - after 1990, bringing to the memory of the young not only feats of arms facts but also Romanian naval traditions. | en_US |
