dc.description.abstract The present study presents theoretical research regarding a unique modern procedure of improvement of the metallic carbides cutting performance, namely their coating with nitride, carbon nitride, etc using deposition in the vapour stage through physical methods. The Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) process includes three main operations, namely: the evaporation of the coating matter, their ionization and triggering, if necessary, and the deposition on the slightly warmed surface of the plate. The main principles of practical performance of the operations aforementioned are presented. en
