Abstract:
We consider that the urban clothing was one of the causes of mutations that marked the folk costume from Bessarabia. Our discourse analyzes the genesis of the urban costume of Bessarabia in the first four decades of the 20th century. The other question that has been analyzed in the current study is determining the ways in which urban clothing influenced by fashion fluctuations has spread in the researched socio-cultural space. The study starts from the working hypothesis that fashion in Bessarabia in the first four decades of the 20th century was dictated by fashion houses and tailoring academies in cultural centers in Europe. This factor explains the western influences in terms of costume and accessories worn by the urban population.
