Abstract:
Information and communication technology, abbreviated IT/TI and TIC, is the technology needed for information processing. The information and communication technology (TIC) sector is a growing sector that contributes annually to the formation of PIB by about 11-12% in the Republic of Moldova. At the moment, the statistical data signal an essential gender gap within the TIC sector in the Republic of Moldova. It is important to know what are the impediments that demotivate women's participation in this activity, in order to remove or at least improve them. Empowering them in this field will ensure not only gender equality but also contribute to the growth of national PIB. The purpose of this study is to analyze the barriers and main factors that contribute to decision-making by girls/ women in favor of the STEM and TIC professions, conducting and analyzing real-time questionnaires based on this topic and presenting methods to promote, attract and support women in TIC activity.
