Abstract:
The Republic of Moldova imposes itself with an exceptional tourist potential, and the religious objectives are considered among the most valuable jewels of the geographical space within Bessarabia, being visited by many local and foreign tourists. There are many places of worship on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, they are presented mainly by monasteries, churches, cathedrals and hermitages. The tourist attraction lies in the special style of architecture, the richness of cult objects, murals, manuscripts and old books, preserved in the museums and libraries of the monasteries, which represent a true work of art. Places of worship are constantly experiencing (even during a pandemic) an optimal flow of visitors, which ultimately contributes fully to the promotion and development of religious and cultural tourism. This paper highlights the most important religious buildings in the central area, emphasizing their appearance, development and expansion, as well as the tragedy they went through, with disastrous effects on the cultural and religious potential of Bessarabia
