Abstract

The researches were made during the period of 2004 - 2006 at the mixed industrial unit “Fruit Nurseries”. The aim of the study was the influence of the number of lateral branches in the crown zone on the apple trees development in the nursery. The first field was planted with bench grafts using perfected copulation method. It was used the rootstock M9, and as a scion – the variety Golden Delicious Reinders, Jonagored and Idared. It was established that when the number of lateral branches increases in the crown zone, it diminishes the average length of ramifications, increases the summed up length and decreases essentially the diameter of the axis in the superior part of the crown zone. The best indices of growing apple fruit trees, bench - grafted and crowned in the second field of the fruit nursery was registered in the case of having more than 5 - 6 ramifications in the crown zone
