Ethical aspects of information management in medicine

Abstract

Chiar dacă farmacistul ca și orice lucrător medical este obligat să păstreze confidenţialitatea informaţiilor referitoare la pacienţi, obţinute în cadrul activităţii sale profesionale, activitatea în cadrul farmaciilor comunitare prin specificul său poate crea unele impedimente în această direcție. Pentru îmbunătățirea calității serviciului farmaceutic este imperativ de a nu neglija respectarea confidențialității având ca repere cadrul legal și normele etice a acestei activități. Adaptarea activității farmaciilor comunitare la evoluția permanentă a cerințelor față de economia de piață generează un șir de provocări care merită a fi analizate din punct de vedere etic și legal.

Even if the pharmacist, like any other medical worker, is obliged to maintain the confidentiality of information regarding patients, obtained within the framework of his professional activity, the activity within community pharmacies by its specificity may create some impediments in this direction. In order to improve the quality of the pharmaceutical service, it is imperative not to neglect the respect for confidentiality, having as benchmarks the legal framework and the ethical norms of this activity. Adapting the activity of community pharmacies to the permanent evolution of the requirements of the market economy generates a series of challenges that deserve to be analyzed from an ethical and legal point of view.
