Abstract:
In rustic interiors, bed sheets and pillowcases have functional and decorative qualities. The interest in relation to these interior textiles derives from their structural and decorative diversity, as well as the decoration techniques used. The materials included in the study are: bed sheets and pillowcases dating from the second half of the 20th century identified in houses and museums in the country: the Ethnographic Museum in the village of Sofia, Drochia; The Ethnographic Museum in Sîngerei, the Ethnographic Museum in the village of Sămășcani, the Regional Museum of History and Ethnography in Cimișlia, the Museum of History and Ethnography in Leova, the Edineț County Museum, etc. The objectives of the study were to identify the ornamental motifs specific to the northern, central and southern areas of the country, to establish the types of motifs present (abstract, real, mixed), the categories of ornamental compositions, the types of garnishing. In this context, several field-specific research methods were involved, such as: participatory observation, interpretive, qualitative, structural-functional and historical-comparative methods. The results of the research allowed the ascertainment of the existing situation with reference to these pieces, their analysis, valorization and promotion.
