Abstract:
The long Moldavian transition period created a stagnation of the civil society. The paper presents some considerations regarding the role of civil society, focusing on the relationship with urban planning and also analyzing some possible solutions for improving its role with the aim of revigorating the Moldavian society. The urban culture cannot be planned. However, the practice and reasoning of the town planners, indifferent of their specialization, have a significant impact on the urban culture. And that was since those implied in the urban project were not constituted in a craft and the town planning did not have a name yet and the discipline in itself did not exist. This is the reason the debate in the public space on the arborescent and vast theme of the urban culture has always been actual.
