Abstract

Hamuraru Philimon is a renowned painter in Moldova. He left a mark in the scene painting, graphics, painting, book design and monumental art. He applied and developed various techniques such as etching, lithography, watercolor, gouache, tempera, and mixed techniques. The book design has proven a good knowledge of local folk culture; his work bears unrepeatable appearance of the Moldovan folklore theme. Each piece signed by him reveal the mysterious roots what feeds his skill, deep roots in the native land’s soil, watered by the richness of colors, rituals and aspirations of his people.
