dc.description.abstract This review provides the analysis of current state and prospects of evolution of photoelectric converters (PEC). There are shown the directions, ways and means of PEC research and development. It is discussed the state of research in Ukraine and industrialized countries, given the forecast of changes in the efficiency of converting solar energy into electricity as well as the cost of industrial production of solar cells. It is shown the comparative characteristic properties of amorphous and nanocrystalline silicon solar cells. The recommendations about promising areas of research and development to improve the efficiency of solar cells are included. en_US
