Abstract:
Landscape and symbolism of the religious scenes (based on icons of XVIII–
XIX centuries). The landscape in the pre-modern painting hold its content as a unique and
mystical message, being an artistic expression system, a special language, whose elements
match to conventional signs. In this context, it approaches religious symbols, becoming a
sign, a bridge between two worlds, the visible and the invisible one, the earthly or worldly
one and the heavenly one, empirical and ideal, turning them and influencing each other.
