Abstract:
Professor at the Department of “Drawing and Descriptive Geometry” within the
Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Iasi starting with 1942,
Alexandru Matei was a passionate of the engineless flight, a pioneer of the school of gliding of
Iasi which he served arduously all his life. Created in 1938, “The School of Engineless Flight”
of Iasi temporarily interrupted its activity in 1940 and 1943 because of the war. The activity of
the school was officially resumed under the coordination of engineer Alexandru Matei, for the
third time, on the 8th of May 1948, functioning wih “Gh. Asachi” Polytechnics.
