Abstract:
A group of six persons from the city Cluj-Napoca from Romania went on an
expedition on the footsteps of Emil Racovitza and the Belgica Expedition (1897-1899). That
expedition took place at the end of the sixth century and it was the first international, scientific
expedition and of recherché that spent the winter in Antarctica, being trapped and stuck
between the ice shelf in the winter of the year 1898, and staid prisoner almost one year. The
expeditions of the people from Cluj took place between the period 23 February and 20 march
2014, at the end of the Antarctic summer, from witch two weeks were spent on the Antarctic
Continent (Antarctic Peninsula), and in that the most stops were similar to the Belgica
Expedition itinerary from 1897-1899.
