dc.description.abstract Machiavellianism, a word that goes back to the late sixteenth century, is a name for the theory and practice of amoral politics. Machiavellianism is "the employment of cunning and duplicity in statecraft or in general conduct", deriving from the Italian Renaissance diplomat and writer Niccolò Machiavelli, who wrote Il Principe (The Prince) and other works. In modern psychology, Machiavellianism is one of the dark triad personalities, characterized by a duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality and a focus on self-interest and personal gain. As the political transformations and the transitional process are conditions that favour the machiavellianism's manifestation and continuity in politics, the same, the machiavellian behaviour serves as a determinant factor of the postponement of the transition's end and the democratical consolidation en_US
