Abstract:
Taking into account the exponential growth of the Romanian car fleet, coupled with a poor road infrastructure development, there is an alarming increase in the number of road events with serious consequences. One of the main components of traffic safety is visibility, which must be as little influenced as possible in both day and night driving conditions. Statistical data show that one-third of road accidents occur during the evening and night, which shows that night car traffic is more dangerous than the day traffic and road lighting reduces the number of road accidents by up to 40%.This paper proposes an analysis of the current way of developing artificial street lighting and alternatives to improve the visibility of roadways to improve objective visibility.
