dc.description.abstract Bacteria, one of the most abundant groups of microorganisms in soil, play an important role in organic matter decomposition and nutrient cycling. In-depth studies of soil bacterial communities became possible only thanks to modern metagenomic technologies. This study aimed to assess bacterial diversity in carbonate chernozem of Moldova using next-generation sequencing. The structure of soil bacterial communities in the carbonate chernozem was analyzed using metagenomic technologies for the first time. The soil layer up to 40 cm in the following plots of the eight-field crop rotation was studied: without fertilization since 1950, with organic fertilizers, with mineral fertilizers. The analysis results of 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed that bacterial phyla Actinobacteriota, Proteobacteria and Firmicutes dominated. In total, 15 bacterial phyla, 26 classes, 78 orders, 107 families and 149 bacterial genera were classified. en_US
